🤔 What Is a Persona?
A persona is a gardening profile that represents your style, experience level, and goals. When you select a persona, Farmers Bounty:
- Shows relevant features — The menu and sidebar display the tools that match your gardening approach
- Hides irrelevant features — Advanced or specialized tools are tucked away to reduce clutter
- Preserves full access — All features remain accessible. Nothing is locked. You can always toggle “Show All Features” to see everything
💡 Key Principle: Personas are UI-only filtering. Your data, plants, locations, and settings are never affected. Changing your persona is instant and reversible.
🎯 How to Choose Your Persona
Method 1: My Persona Page
- Navigate to Farmers Bounty → My Persona
- Browse the card grid showing all 13 personas
- Click the card that best matches your gardening style
- Your selection is saved instantly via AJAX — no page reload required
- Refresh the page to see your updated menu
Method 2: Sidebar Quick-Switcher (New in v6.1.0)
Your current persona is now prominently displayed at the top of the sidebar. This makes it easy to see which persona you’re using and switch at any time:
- Look at the top of the sidebar — you’ll see your persona’s icon, name, and experience level badge
- Click the persona widget to open the quick-switch dropdown
- Select any of the 13 personas from the dropdown list — each shows the persona name and description
- The page reloads automatically with your new persona applied
- Click “Manage Persona Settings…” at the bottom of the dropdown to visit the full persona page
⚠️ Note: If you’re an administrator (with
manage_options capability), admin-only menu items like Settings, Diagnostics, and Database Tools are always visible regardless of persona.📊 Persona Comparison at a Glance

Want to see everything? Use the “Show All Features” toggle:
- Frontend Portal: All sidebar sections become visible regardless of persona
- Desktop App: Toggle available in the sidebar filter menu (funnel icon)
- Admin Dashboard: Admin users always see all menus
Persona Is Not a Lockout
Farmers Bounty follows a strict no-gatekeeping policy:
- All data remains accessible regardless of persona selection
- Persona changes are instant and free — switch as often as you like
- No features are permanently hidden or locked behind a persona
- Your plants, locations, harvests, and journal entries are never affected
