💬 AI Chatbot
Accessing the AI Assistant
There are two ways to access the AI chatbot:
- Admin Panel: Navigate to Farmers Bounty → AI Assistant
- Shortcode: Embed on any page or post using

Three-Panel Interface
The AI Assistant uses a modern three-panel layout:
📋 History Panel (Left)
Browse and search your conversation history. Create new conversations, rename, or delete old ones.
💬 Chat Panel (Center)
The main conversation area. Type questions, view AI responses with formatted text, and see source indicators.
⚡ Quick Actions (Right)
One-click buttons for common queries and suggestion chips for follow-up questions.
How It Works
When you ask a question, the system follows this process:
- Intent Detection: Analyzes your question to understand what you’re asking about
- Context Building: Gathers relevant data from your garden:
- Current weather from your Personal Weather Station
- Your plant database and garden locations
- Georgia-specific knowledgebase articles
- GDD tracking and frost date data
- Monthly planting calendar for Zone 7b/8a
- Claude API Call: Sends your question with assembled context to Claude AI
- Response Delivery: Formats and displays the personalized answer with source indicators

What makes the Farmers Bounty AI Assistant special is that responses are personalized using your actual garden data:
Data Sources Used:
- Personal Weather Station (PWS): Real-time temperature, humidity, rainfall, wind, solar radiation from your Weather Underground station
- Your Plant Database: Knows what you’re growing, where it’s planted, and its current status
- Georgia Knowledgebase: Curated reference data for pests, diseases, soil management, and regional planting guides
- GDD Tracking: Current growing degree day accumulation for accurate development predictions
- Frost Dates: Historical and predicted frost dates for your specific location
- Monthly Planting Calendar: Zone 7b/8a-optimized month-by-month planting recommendations
🎨 Pro Tip: The more data you have in your garden (plants, locations, care history), the more personalized and accurate the AI responses will be!
💾 Conversation Management
Creating Conversations
- Click New Conversation in the history panel
- Start typing your question
- Conversation is automatically saved with a generated title
Managing Conversations
- Rename: Click the conversation title to rename it
- Delete: Remove conversations you no longer need
- Search: Search across all conversation history by keyword
Export & Import
- Export to JSON: Download your conversation history as a JSON file for backup or sharing
- Import from JSON: Restore previously exported conversations
- Copy to Clipboard: Copy a conversation’s content for pasting elsewhere
- Print: Print a conversation for your records
💡 Tip: Export your conversations periodically as a backup. The JSON format preserves all messages, timestamps, and metadata.
⚡ Quick Actions
The Quick Actions panel provides one-click buttons for common queries:

Suggestion Chips
After each AI response, suggestion chips appear with relevant follow-up questions. Click any chip to continue the conversation in that direction.
📊 Source Indicators
Each AI response includes source indicators showing where the information came from:
- 🌤️ PWS Data: Response includes real-time data from your Personal Weather Station
- 📚 Local Knowledgebase: Information sourced from the Georgia-specific gardening knowledgebase (pests, diseases, soil, planting data)
- 🔍 Web Search (Tavily): Additional information retrieved from web search to supplement local knowledge
⚠️ Note: AI responses are generated by Claude AI and should be used as guidance, not as a substitute for expert advice. Always verify critical information (especially regarding plant toxicity, pesticide safety, or food preservation).
💡 Tips for Better Answers
Getting the Most from Your AI Assistant
- Be specific: “When should I transplant Cherokee Purple tomatoes?” works better than “When do I plant stuff?”
- Include context: “My basil in the raised bed has yellow leaves” gives better results than “yellow leaves”
- Ask one thing at a time: Break complex questions into focused individual questions for more thorough answers
- Mention your setup: “I have clay soil in a raised bed” helps the AI tailor its advice
- Follow up: Ask clarifying questions to dig deeper into any topic
- Use Quick Actions: Start with a quick action button, then ask follow-up questions based on the results
