Plant Status Indicators:

  • Healthy: Plant is thriving
  • Needs Attention: Requires care or monitoring
  • Stressed: Showing signs of problems
  • Critical: Urgent intervention needed
  • Dormant: Seasonal dormancy
  • Harvested: Completed lifecycle

➕ Adding Plants

Method 1: Search Plant Database

  1. Click Add Plant button
  2. Search by common name (e.g., “tomato”) or scientific name (e.g., “Solanum lycopersicum”)
  3. Browse results from multiple plant databases:
    • Perenual: 10,000+ species with cultivation data
    • Trefle: 400,000+ global species
    • GBIF: 1.8M+ biodiversity records
  4. Select the correct plant from results
  5. Fill in planting details:
    • Location: Where it’s planted
    • Planted Date: When you planted it
    • Variety: Specific cultivar (optional)
    • Source: Where you got it (nursery, seed, etc.)
    • Quantity: Number of plants
    • Notes: Any special information
  6. Click Save Plant
💡 Smart Suggestions: The system automatically suggests optimal planting dates, companion plants, and care requirements based on your location and climate zone.

Method 2: Quick Add

For plants not in the database:

  1. Click Quick Add
  2. Enter common name manually
  3. Add basic details
  4. System will attempt to match with database later

Method 3: CSV Bulk Import

Perfect for importing existing garden data:

  1. Go to Farmers Bounty → Import CSV
  2. Download the CSV template
  3. Fill in your plant data:
    Common Name,Scientific Name,Location,Planted Date,Variety,Notes

Method 4: HuggingFace Dataset Import

For advanced users importing large datasets:

  1. Go to Farmers Bounty → HuggingFace Import
  2. Enter dataset ID
  3. Map fields
  4. Process in batches

💚 Plant Care Tracking

Logging Care Activities

Track all care activities for each plant:

Watering

  1. Click plant card → Log Watering
  2. Enter date and amount
  3. Add notes (e.g., “Deep watering after heat wave”)
  4. System tracks frequency and suggests next watering

Fertilizing

  1. Click plant card → Log Fertilizer
  2. Select fertilizer type (organic, synthetic, specific brand)
  3. Enter NPK ratio if known
  4. Record application method
  5. System schedules next application

Pruning & Maintenance

  1. Click plant card → Log Maintenance
  2. Select activity type:
    • Pruning
    • Deadheading
    • Staking/Support
    • Mulching
    • Pest treatment
    • Disease treatment
  3. Add details and photos
  4. Track effectiveness

Automated Care Reminders

Farmers Bounty generates intelligent reminders based on:

Access at Farmers Bounty → Seed Inventory

Adding Seeds

  1. Click Add Seed Packet
  2. Enter seed information:
    • Plant Name: What it grows
    • Variety: Specific cultivar
    • Source: Company/supplier
    • Purchase Date: When acquired
    • Expiration Date: Viability date
    • Quantity: Number of seeds
    • Lot Number: For tracking
    • Storage Location: Where kept
    • Cost: Price paid
  3. Upload packet photo (optional)
  4. Click Save Seed

Seed Viability Tracking

The system automatically:

  • Calculates remaining viability based on seed type and age
  • Warns when seeds are approaching expiration
  • Suggests germination testing for old seeds
  • Tracks germination success rates

Germination Testing

  1. Select seed packet → Test Germination
  2. Enter test parameters:
    • Number of seeds tested
    • Test date
    • Method (paper towel, soil, etc.)
  3. Record results after 7-14 days
  4. System calculates germination rate
  5. Updates viability status

Seed Starting Schedule

Plan when to start seeds:

  1. View seed inventory
  2. Click Generate Starting Schedule
  3. System calculates optimal start dates based on:

  4. Add to calendar

Creating Detailed Locations

  1. Click Add New Location
  2. Enter comprehensive details:

    • Dimensions (length × width × height)
    • Square footage
    • Volume (for containers)
    • Material (wood, plastic, fabric, etc.)

    Growing Conditions:

    • Sunlight exposure (hours per day)
    • Soil type and pH
    • Drainage quality
    • Wind exposure
    • Microclimate notes

    Infrastructure:

    • Irrigation system
    • Trellises/supports
    • Shade structures
